Confluence Connector

Connect to Atlassian Confluence to index wiki pages, spaces, and attached documents from your knowledge base.

Overview

The Confluence connector supports:

  • Confluence Cloud and Server/Data Center
  • Page content and attachments
  • Space-level filtering
  • Permission synchronization

Prerequisites

  • Confluence Cloud or Server instance
  • User account with read access
  • API token (Cloud) or credentials (Server)

Authentication

Confluence Cloud

  1. Go to Atlassian Account Settings
  2. Create an API token
  3. Use your email + API token for authentication

Confluence Server/Data Center

Use username and password, or configure OAuth/SAML if available.

Setup Steps

  1. Add Connector: Knowledge → Add Data Source → Confluence
  2. Enter Credentials: Instance URL, email, and API token
  3. Select Spaces: Choose spaces to index
  4. Configure Options: Attachments, permissions
  5. Test & Create: Verify and save

Space Filtering

Index specific spaces:

Include: ENGINEERING, PRODUCT, HR
Exclude: ARCHIVE, SANDBOX

Permission Sync

Confluence permissions are synced:

  • Space permissions
  • Page restrictions
  • Group memberships

Users only see content they can access in Confluence.

Best Practices

  1. Start with high-value spaces
  2. Exclude archive/sandbox spaces
  3. Enable permission sync for security
  4. Include attachments for complete coverage

Troubleshooting

Authentication failed: Verify API token and email combination

Missing pages: Check space permissions and page restrictions

Attachment errors: Ensure attachment download permissions
